For many parents, successful navigation of the Special Education placement process to ensure fair, effective, and equitable educational opportunities for their child as guaranteed by law can be a daunting task, however with PUSD’s commitment to quality Special Education services, overall dedicated policies to ensure inclusive education for all, and Piedmont’s considerable community wealth and well-funded resource network, PUSD has an impressive record of providing effective Special Education supports to anyone within requiring such services as outlined pursuant to the North Region SELPA agreement. 

 In compliance with Regional, State and Federal laws, parents are to be made aware fully of their legal rights regarding SPED assessment and recommendations for supports available to their child. If such proposed supports are not suitable to the parents, they do have access to a myriad of support agencies that are available to assist to resolve such matters of disagreement up to and including legal action. While such an avenue is not preferred, it is available and as such, the process does create meaningful connections assuring that all students are included cared for and loved in our classrooms in particular, and the community as a whole.
